Lanterns of Possibility and Field Extracts called effluxes - meaning outpouring or pouring forth - are presented both as 3D experiences and digitally-printed photographic excerpts and are offered as instigators and incubators in honor of sublimity, awe, wonder and delight! Via the enlivening, compelling and bolstering nature of color and light phenomena, the work is an invitation to curiosity and empowered exuberance, encouragement for the heart, mind and body, and calling to antidotal action in this time of uncertainty and heightened human vulnerability. May we be supported and emboldened by the ever-presence of the possibility of reciprocity, reclamation and renewal.

Uncontrollable Beauty transforms space into a forest of unexpected passages…swooning, swaggering, billowing, twisting, spiraling, and flowing – both ecstatic and marking the somber too –with cascading fabric yardages of every which pattern and color scheme as well as articulations and punctuations of circular, oval, square, rectangular and hexagonal framed images, canvases, embroidery hoops, and mirrors organized like flocks of birds moving in the sky, like patches of grasses in the marsh, a garden made of all that glitters, the way to the treasure and the treasure itself, one and the same always.

Central to the experience of Uncontrollable Beauty - key to all truth, beauty, goodness, and courage – is the Great Heart by which thought, feeling and action can find best balance. And by our great heart, by listening to our hearts, we are each able to build mountains and climb them as we make them, until we reach our summits, the places that glitter and gleam – these are the grand mountains that are in fact ourselves. Our constructed selves – made by our labor and effort and toil – are represented by a mountain of words and stuff – paper pages and packaging material – collected over the course of a life lived every day. Surrounding the heart and the mountain that is our body, the viewer will encounter details – arrangements, groups, stands, patches and areas, a garden of delights and surprises, that, in encouraging the acts of noticing and paying attention, lingering and listening, invites enchanted forest dweller to encounter and fully engage the self and the wild, mysterious reality of being.

Calling No Name | Ode to No Name is an expression of Rosh Hashanah, of the birth-day of the world! And the world is one that we share, and the world is also each one of us remaking ourselves continuously! Striving for humility steeped in willing obligation and joy, we turn inward, reflect, return, connect, engage, offer, and extend ourselves outwardly. Between contemplation and action, taking ownership of our choices, for better and for worse, we receive the blessing of healing, honing, and honoring with heightened humility our greatest possibility: I am that I am and i will be what i will be. Rosh Hashanah and the ten days that lead up to Yom Kippur tell us that first we are to feel the joy so that we can better exercise the courage to reflect on how to rise to the occasion of the fullest expression of who we can be. Chag Sameach!
